Five Different Types of Electricians on the Market

Looking to hire an electrician? When it comes to choosing an electrician for your needs, it's important to know that not all electricians are created equal. There is a wide variety of electricians out there to match the different needs of their clients. Knowing your options is crucial for ensuring you choose the right electrician for your job.

Check out some of the different types of electricians found on the market today.

1. Residential Electricians

These electricians can perform a variety of electrical jobs on residential properties. They can install, maintain and repair electrical systems, including power outlets, lighting fixtures, HVAC equipment, electrical hot water units and many more. They also install the wiring that is needed to supply these systems with power.

Residential electricians can work on existing homes as well as new ones. They can either work directly for homeowners or work for contractors hired to work on new home construction.

2. Commercial Electricians

These electricians do similar work to their residential counterparts but at a much bigger scope. If you need an electrician to fix a power outage affecting an entire apartment block, for example, you will need to choose a commercial electrician instead of a residential one.

Commercial electricians focus on working in commercial buildings where the kind of electrical equipment and systems used are quite different from those used in smaller domestic settings.

3. Industrial Electricians

Different industries rely on electricity and electrical systems to go about their normal operations. The electrical needs of industrial buildings are more demanding than residential and commercial settings.

Industrial electricians focus on meeting the electrical needs of large industrial facilities, such as factories, warehouses, power plants, chemical processing plants and more.

4. Emergency Electricians

Electrical emergencies can happen at any time. When they do happen, they will need to be handled quickly and properly. This is where emergency electricians come in. They will arrive at your property to resolve your electrical issue before it can cause harm to people and potentially lead to costly repairs.

Emergency electricians can be residential, commercial or industrial electricians.

5. Specialist Electricians

These electricians are experts at what they do. Unlike other types of electricians that can handle a wide range of electrical tasks, specialist electricians work exclusively on a particular type of electrical equipment or systems.

They can work as appliance experts, electrical wiring connection experts, HVAC system experts and so on.

The right type of electrician for you will depend on what your particular needs are. Keep that in mind when choosing an electrician for your job.
